Matthew, a native of Eau Claire, WI, received the Bachelor of Architectural Studies degree from the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture at Taliesin. Motivated by a growing awareness of the destructive tendencies of development throughout the nation, it was with the hope of learning an alternative, integrative approach to architecture that Matthew apprenticed at Taliesin – and found his hope confirmed.
A skateboarder for over 20 years, Matthew has been involved in the culture in a number of capacities – from sponsored amateur (sponsors including Molotov Skateboards, Independent Trucks, and Speed Wheels Santa Cruz), to graphic designer, to builder of wood parks, to team manager, to company representative – and is deeply gratified to live a block away from a beautifully integrated concrete park. Matthew is inspired by interrelatedness as exemplified in nature, and is dedicated to the lifelong study of this and its manifold applications – including the design of skateparks as parkscapes.
